Kickin' Asphalt Bicycle Club
|
Welcome! Kickin' Asphalt was recently selected as the "Best Bicycle Club in the Southeastern United States"
based on growth, community involvement, and use of League of American Bicyclists services. We are a
non-profit bicycle touring club open to cycling enthusiasts in and around Southern Beaufort County, South
Carolina. We were founded in September, 2006 and now have more than 100 members. We are affiliated with
the League of American Bicyclists and Palmetto Cycling Coalition of South Carolina. KABC organizes and
promotes safe group bicycle rides and holds social activities for our cyclists. We require helmets to be worn
on all rides and we encourage brightly colored clothing.
We currently ride most Saturday mornings, starting at different locations around Hilton Head, Bluffton and
Beaufort. Rides usually range between 15 and 40 miles and average 12-18 mph, depending on ride level.
Please see the explanation below of A, B and C rides to determine which rides are best for you. Each ride on
our calendar is noted with an A, B, C rating. Helmets are required, and remember your water bottle!
Some of our Saturday rides also have a C ride group (less then 13mph), affectionately known as "Draggin'
Asphalt" for our more recreational & social riders. They ride approximately 20 miles at a more leisurely pace.
We usually meet for lunch at a local restaurant following our rides. Come out and ride with us once before you
decide to join our club. See you soon!
