Kickin' Asphalt Bicycle Club
|
Welcome! Kickin' Asphalt was recently selected as the "Best Bicycle Club in the Southeastern
United States"...based on growth, community involvement, and use of League of American
Bicyclists services. We are a non-profit bicycle touring club open to all cycling enthusiasts in
and around Southern Beaufort County, South Carolina. We were founded in September, 2006
and now has more than 100 members. We are affiliated with the League of American
Bicyclists and Palmetto Cycling Coalition of South Carolina. KABC organizes and promotes
safe group bicycle rides and holds social activities for our cyclists. We require helmets to be
worn on all rides and we encourage brightly colored clothing.
We currently ride every Saturday morning, starting at different locations in and around Hilton
Head, Bluffton, & Beaufort. Each ride is organized by a different Ride Leader who plans the
route and provides maps and/or cue sheets for each rider. The "Kickin' Asphalt" group rides
approximately 15-18 mph for approximately 35-40 miles. We also have a slower ride group
(less then 15mph), affectionately known as "Draggin' Asphalt", for our more recreational &
social riders. They ride approximately 20 miles at a more leisurely pace. We usually meet for
lunch at a local restaurant following our rides. Come out and ride with us once before you
decide to join our club...you will LOVE US!!

shoulders, local parkways and off-road paved pathways. There will be rest stops and the “Buddy System” will
be used to make sure no one is permanently dropped. Participants will be expected to know basic safety
emergency procedures, how to change a flat tire, and how to ride in a group. Riders must carry a road ID.
